On November 24th, Dr. Max Kälin, MD, PhD, delivered a lecture entitled “Fundamental Constants, Neurons, and Cognition” at the Natural Science Society of Zurich (ngzh).

Fundamental Constants, Neurons, and Cognition

Quantitatively, the neuron lies logarithmically at the midpoint of the spatial limits of observation: the Planck length on the smaller side and the particle horizon, the boundary of the observable universe, on the larger side.

This quantitative relationship links fundamental constants and neurons, and vice versa.

Human cognitive ability is inconceivable without the evolution of life. This, in turn, depends on stable biological molecules, which could not exist if the fundamental constants did not have their current values ​​(the anthropic principle). In short, no neurons, no fundamental constants; no fundamental constants, no neurons.

The ouroboros of antiquity, the snake biting its own tail, comes to mind.
