Start of Immunization Week

Today marks the start of World Immunization Week: Is your vaccination protection up to date?

Vaccinations are a hot topic these days – both online and in personal conversations. In times of emerging pathogens and ongoing research, it’s more important than ever to rely on trustworthy information and to discuss appropriate vaccination protection in a confidential and supportive setting.

World Immunization Week by the WHO (April 24–30, 2025) is held under the motto: “Humanly Possible: Vaccines for All”. It reminds us that vaccinations are among the most effective and safest medical measures to protect people of all ages from serious diseases

Is your vaccination protection up to date?

Use World Immunization Week as an opportunity to review your vaccination status with us. Staying current with your immunizations is an important step for your health and for the health of those around you.

The Swiss Vaccination Plan recommends:

  • Pneumococcal vaccination: Recommended for risk groups (all over 65) to protect against common pneumonia pathogens and other serious infections. We use a well-tested, next-generation multivalent vaccine.
  • Herpes Zoster vaccination (Shingles): Recommended for people aged 65 and older to reduce the risk of painful shingles and prevent long-term nerve pain.
  • Tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) vaccination: In the Zurich region, a known risk area, this vaccine is recommended for all age groups. Did you know it needs to be renewed every 3–5 years?
  • Meningococcal vaccination: Recommended for adolescents and residents of student housing. Some studies suggest that certain meningococcal vaccines may offer partial protection against gonorrhea, which could particularly benefit men who have sex with men.
  • HPV – The cancer vaccine? It’s already available for cervical cancer. Talk with us about when the HPV vaccine is recommended and whether a detailed cost-benefit analysis is appropriate.
